There are characteristics in each of us which seem to shine more brightly than others and show through the rest. Some people are caring, or kind, or whatever. Mike was all of these and more.

There are many different definitions for the word friend. Twelve to be precise. One which I feel epitomizes the idea of the word is 'A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; A comrade' Most people would not consider this a characteristis of someone's
personality, but if I had to choose one which shone more brightly in Mike than any other, it would be friendship.

Michael and Evan
I think that he understood this concept immensely and it showed in everything he did. It took no work for him to acquire this skill, he was just naturally an extremely friendly guy and we all knew it. Mike was a friend in the true sense of the word, a comrade. He was always with you in the everyday struggle of life. If you needed someone to talk to, Mike was there and would listen.

Friend, buddy, pal, companion, whatever you want to call it, Mike was it. I think that I try to "Be like Mike" (excuse my pun) every day.

There is a buddhist philosophy that I think is the key to happiness and Mike knew about this. It says "Regardless of what we do or don't do externally, a life spent cultivating wisdom and compassion is a good life." The compassion Mike gained in his life is far beyond the amount many people will ever even hope to posess.

It was an honor to be graced with his presence and I am thankful to have been close to him. The way I see it, God messed up a while ago. He sent an angel to Earth and simply needed Mike back.

"Chazak Chazak V'nit Chazek"- Be strong and let us strengthen one another.
